The Turkish Red Crescent distributed food packages to 1,000 poor families in Bangladesh’s central district of Narayanganj, one of the country’s worst-hit regions from coronavirus, according to officials.

The aid was distributed in collaboration with Roketsan, Turkey's leading defense firm.

Each food package contains rice, lentils, cooking oil, salt, sugar, and semolina.

“We are standing by our Bangladeshi brothers/sisters who are currently struggling with Monsoon season along with cyclone and COVID-19 at the same time,” Bora Tumer, a Turkish Red Crescent official, told Anadolu Agency.

He went on to say the charity was supporting vulnerable communities in 15 countries.

In a separate statement, Roketsan said: “At this difficult time, Roketsan distributed food packages among 1,000 families in Bangladesh to mitigate the effect of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.”
