ISTANBUL

Turkey's benchmark stock index closed the day at 105,983.14 points on Tuesday, up 0.57% from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 105,568.14 points. As of the daily close, it earned 600.72 points from Monday's close of 105,382.42 points.

During Tuesday's trading, the index hovered between 104,718.29 points and 106,162.31 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 719.3 billion Turkish liras ($125.77 billion) by market close, and the daily trading volume was 10 billion Turkish liras (some $1.75 billion).

On the second transaction day of the week, 58 stocks on the index rose, 39 were down, and three were flat compared to Monday.

The top-listed companies by market value were Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding and private lenders Garanti and Akbank.

The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, iron/steel producer Kardemir and defense giant Aselsan.

Information technologies company Netas was the best performer with its shares up 19.96%, while shares of private equity firm Gozde Girisim dropped the most, down 4.72%.

The price of one ounce of gold was around $1,458.00 by market close, down from $1,458.55 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $63.10 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Tuesday.
