Turkey’s benchmark stock index closed at 1,373.25 points on Monday, down by 1.34% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 1,395.16 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 18.61 points from the previous close of 1,391.86 points.

The index's lowest value during the day was 1,368.24 points, while its daily high was 1,397.55 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was 966 billion Turkish liras (over $111.3 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 12.35 billion Turkish liras ($1.41 billion).

On the first transaction day of the week, five stocks on the index rose and 95 fell, compared to Friday.

The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti BBVA, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and real estate investment trust Emlak Konut.

Frozen foods producer Kerevitas was the best performer with its shares up 1.31%, while shares of real estate investment trust Ihlas Gayrimenkul saw the sharpest drop with 7.08%.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,774.50 by market close, down from $1,785.50 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $74.39 per barrel as of 6.34 p.m. local time (1534GMT).
