Turkey's benchmark stock index closed the day at 115,190.05 points on Monday, up 1.39% from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the week at 114,711.23 points. As of the daily close, it rose1,578.16 points from Friday's close of 113,611.89 points.

During the day, the index's lowest level was 114,267.16 points, while the highest was 115,447.43 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 827 billion Turkish liras ($120 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 23.5 billion Turkish liras ($3.4 billion).

On the first transaction day of the week, 49 stocks on the index rose, four were down, and the remainder were flat compared to Friday.

The highest trading volumes were posted by state lenders Halkbank and Vakif Bank and private lender Garanti.

Construction conglomerate Enka was the best performer, with its shares up 10%, while chemical company Alkim dropped the most, losing 3.79%.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,745.35 by market close, up from $1,731.80 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent oil was $42.38 per barrel as of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Monday.
