The new CEO of leading Turkish conglomerate Akfen Holding said on Tuesday that the holding will continue to invest in 2020.

Selim Akin was appointed Akfen’s new CEO on Monday, succeeding the retiring Ibrahim Suha Gucsav, according to a Tuesday press release.

The holding, which made investments totaling 6.8 billion Turkish liras (around $1.3 billion) in 2018 and 2019, will continue to invest in infrastructure projects this year, Akin said.

"We also aim to invest in new areas where we see opportunities," he added.

The 44-year-old holding is active in several fields including construction, renewable energy, port management, mining, maritime transportation, real estate, waste management, and insurance.
