Turkey’s Borsa Istanbul slightly down at close

BIST 100 loses over 1 points from previous close

Turkey's benchmark stock index closed Thursday at 1,407.76 points, slightly down by 0.10%.

Starting the day at 1,409.76 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 1.43 points over Wednesday's close of 1,409.19 points.

During the day, the index's lowest value was 1,407.23 points, while its daily high was 1,418.52 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1 trillion Turkish liras ($125 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 25.9 billion Turkish liras ($3.21 billion).

On the fourth transaction day of the week, 37 stocks on the index rose and 61 fell compared to Wednesday.

The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti BBVA and iron/steel producers Erdemir and Kardemir.

Investment trust firm Torunlar was the best performer, with its shares up 10%, while stocks of wheels manufacturer Jants dropped the most, down 5.50%.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,749.00 by market close, up from $1,740.00 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $66.75 per barrel as of 6.10 p.m. local time (1510GMT) on Thursday.
