Turkey extends condolences to Japan over deadly floods
At least 15 people killed, and 9 missing after heavy rain causes floods in Japan on Saturday
ANKARA
Turkey on Sunday extended condolences to Japan over the deadly floods.
"We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives and extensive damage caused by floods and mudslides in Kumamoto and Kagoshima prefectures, Japan," the Foreign Ministry said in a written statement.
"We extend our sincere condolences to the people and Government of Japan as well as to the relatives of those who lost their lives and wish a quick recovery to the injured," the ministry added.
On Saturday, at least 15 people in the Kyushu island were killed, nine were missing and one was injured after heavy rain triggered floods and landslides in the region, according to daily Japan Times.
