Trump says he plans to visit flood-ravaged Texas ‘probably’ on Friday
President says he is in touch with Gov. Greg Abbott and his administration is working 'very close' with representatives from Texas

WASHINGTON
US President Donald Trump said Sunday that he plans to visit Texas later this week as the death toll from floods in the state reached 80.
"Probably on Friday. We wanted to leave a little time. I would've done it today, but we'd just be in their way — probably Friday," he told reporters in Morristown, New Jersey.
Trump said he is in touch with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and his administration is working "very close" with representatives from Texas.
Flash floods that struck central Texas early Friday have killed at least 80 people.
Earlier Sunday, Trump announced that he signed a major disaster declaration for Kerr County "to ensure that our Brave First Responders immediately have the resources they need."
The declaration provides federal assistance for individuals and public infrastructure.
Trump said on his Truth Social platform that Coast Guard and state responders "have saved more than 850 lives."
