Teen tennis player Coco Gauff made the list of the top 50 players when the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) updated its 2020 rankings on Monday.

The WTA said on its website that 15-year-old Gauff from the U.S. climbed to the 49th spot, up from 68th at the end of 2019.

A previous update on Feb. 17 put her at 51st.

Gauff gained fame after beating 39-year-old Venus Williams in the first round of the 2019 Wimbledon, a huge disappointment for the five-time Wimbledon winner.

In the 2020 Australian Open, Gauff was eliminated by her fellow citizen Sofia Kenin – the 2020 AO champion – with 6-7, 6-3, 6-0 sets in the women's singles 4th round.

But Gauff previously knocked the 2019 Australian Open winner, Japan's Naomi Osaka, out of this year's Australian Open.

Ashleigh Barty, 23, the 2019 French Open champ from Australia, is still the world no. 1 in tennis.
