Syrian regime says Israel carried out attack on Aleppo
Israel has not yet issued any statement on claim
ANKARA
Syria’s Bashar al-Assad regime on Monday claimed that Israel carried out airstrikes on rural areas of Aleppo.
Basing its news on military sources, Syria’s official SANA news agency claimed that Israel attacked some areas in the Safira district, south of Aleppo at 11:37 p.m. local time (2037 GMT).
The missiles were mostly intercepted by Syrian air defenses, the news agency said.
Israel has not yet issued any statement on the claim.
Safira, which is under the control of the Assad regime, includes the Research Center and the Defense Industry Factory, which are used for military purposes.
In addition to the regime army, there are military points belonging to foreign terrorist groups under the command of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.
Syria has been mired in a vicious civil war since early 2011 when the regime of Bashar al-Assad cracked down on pro-democracy protests with unexpected ferocity.
In the past decade, around half a million people have been killed, and more than 12 million had to flee their homes.
