ANKARA

Spanish midfielder David Silva has been infected by the novel coronavirus, Real Sociedad football club said on Monday.

In a statement, Real Sociedad said that Silva, 34, tested positive for the coronavirus after he underwent the test at the Gipuzkoa Polyclinic.

The Spanish club added that Silva has been asymptomatic and is under isolation.

Real Sociedad signed him last month.

Silva previously played for English giants Manchester City and Spanish clubs Valencia and Celta Vigo.

He clinched four English Premier League titles with Manchester City.

Silva was also one of the key players for the Spanish national team when the nation win the 2010 FIFA World Cup and UEFA EURO 2008 and 2012 titles.
