Rwanda records lowest virus cases in 3 weeks

ANKARA

Rwandan health authorities announced to have registered only three new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, the lowest in the three weeks.

The last time only three people tested positive for the virus was on May 28.

The East African country has recorded a total of 639 infections, including two deaths and 347 recoveries thus far, according to its Health Ministry.

As many as 99,309 tests have been conducted in the country of more than 12 million people since the outbreak in March.

Authorities allowed limited movement of people and restricted openings of businesses including restaurants and hotels in mid-May.

Some restrictions such as ban on travel between cities, however, were put in place again after reassessment of the situation.

Tourism is a major source of income for Rwanda, with visitors especially drawn toward mountain gorilla trekking, birdwatching, nature walks and hiking.
