Axios correspondent says Kirill Dmitriyev to meet Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner on sidelines of World Economic Forum
MOSCOW
Russian presidential envoy Kirill Dmitriyev will travel to the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, to meet US representatives on the Ukrainian settlement, according to American media reports on Monday.
In Davos, Dmitriyev is expected to meet US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner on Tuesday, Barak Ravid of the Axios media outlet said on US media platform X, citing a source.
"Putin's envoy @kadmitriev will meet tomorrow in Davos with President Trump's envoys @SteveWitkoff and @jaredkushner to discuss U.S. peace plan, a source with knowledge confirms," he said.
Since assuming office for a second time last January, US President Donald Trump has pursued a personal approach to ending the war in Ukraine, marked by discreet talks between his advisers and both Russian and Ukrainian officials.
Trump’s proposed framework emphasizes US-backed security guarantees for Kyiv and greater European burden-sharing, while leaving unresolved the status of Russian-controlled territories and the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant.
Davos is the informal name for the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting, held in January in Davos, Switzerland. It is a major global gathering where political leaders, heads of global companies, academics, and public figures discuss economic, geopolitical, and social issues. Trump is also attending the event.
