Russia registers nearly 11,500 new virus cases
Country also reports 191 fatalities over past 24 hours
MOSCOW
Russia on Thursday reported 11,463 new cases and 191 fatalities, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases to 1.26 million and the death toll to 22,056, according to health authorities.
The total number of recoveries in the country topped 1 million mark as 7,054 more patients recovered from the virus over the past 24 hours.
The capital Moscow has seen 3,323 new cases over the last 24 hours, with a cumulative toll of 318,111.
In the last 24 hours, 439,000 tests were carried out throughout the country with the total number of tests exceeding 49 million.
Russia saw the highest daily number of cases on May 11 when 11,656 cases were recorded across the country.
Since originating in China last December, the pandemic has claimed over 1.05 million lives in 188 countries and regions.
More than 36.19 million cases have been reported worldwide, while over 25.25 million patients have recovered so far, according to figures compiled by the Johns Hopkins University.
