Russia claims to have taken control of another settlement in eastern Ukraine
Russian Defense Ministry says its forces took control of Yalta village in Donetsk region

MOSCOW
Russia on Wednesday claimed that its forces captured the village of Yalta in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region.
In a statement, the ministry said the settlement went under Russia's control as a result of an operation carried out by the Vostok (East) group of forces.
The ministry also said it carried out a group strike using aviation, artillery, missiles and drones against Ukraine's workshops for assembling attack drones, an oil depot and points of temporary deployment of foreign mercenaries.
It also claimed the launcher of the S-300PT air defense system, the P-18 air target detection radar and the control vehicle were destroyed in the strike.
Over the past day, Russian air defense systems shot down seven US-made JDAM guided bombs and 335 drones, it said.
Ukraine has yet to comment on Russia's claims, and independent verification is challenging due to the ongoing armed conflict.
