Pandemic claims 10 lives in Oman, 1 in Qatar

ISTANBUL

Oman registered 10 fatalities due to the coronavirus outbreak on Wednesday, while Qatar confirmed one death from the pandemic.


In a statement, the Omani Health Ministry said 628 new infections were detected, bringing the nationwide tally to 95,339 confirmed cases, including 875 deaths, and 86,482 recoveries.


In Qatar, the Health Ministry said the country’s death toll rose to 212 after one virus-related fatality was recorded, while the total infections soared to 124,175 cases after 258 new cases were registered.


Across the world, COVID-19 has claimed nearly 971,000 lives in 188 countries and regions since December.


The US, India and Brazil are currently the worst-hit countries.


More than 31.6 million cases have been reported, with nearly 21.7 million recoveries, according to figures compiled by US-based Johns Hopkins University.
