Palestine sees 611 new virus cases, 9 fatalities

RAMALLAH

Palestine on Monday confirmed 611 new cases of the novel coronavirus and nine fatalities over the past 24 hours.

In a statement, the Palestinian Health Ministry said the virus claimed three lives in the occupied West Bank and another six in East Jerusalem.

The virus death toll rose to 309, while the total number of infections surpassed 46,057, including 32,460 recoveries, the ministry said.

Worldwide, the virus has claimed more than 958,000 lives in 188 countries and regions since first emerging in Wuhan, China in December.

The US, India, Brazil and Russia are currently the worst-hit countries.

Over 30.87 million COVID-19 cases have been reported worldwide, with recoveries surpassing 21.1 million, according to figures compiled by the US' Johns Hopkins University.
