Over 57 kg of meth seized in Turkey

BATMAN, BURSA, Turkey

A large quantity of methamphetamine, a highly lethal illegal drug, has been seized by Turkish forces in anti-narcotic raids, officials said on Monday.

While searching a light commercial vehicle, which came from Hakkari province that borders Iran and Iraq in the Kozluk district of southeastern Batman province, narcotic police, with the help of K-9 dogs, discovered drugs hidden under car seats.

About 55 kg (112 pounds) of meth was seized. Two people with suspected links to the seized drugs were also held.

Separately, police found more than 2 kg (over 4.4 pounds) of the addictive illegal drug in the northwestern Bursa province.

During the raid, an unregistered pistol, along with some bullets, were also seized. One person with suspected links to the seized haul was detained.
