Over 2.84 billion doses of coronavirus vaccines have so far been given worldwide, figures compiled by Our World in Data, a tracking website, showed on Friday.

China leads the global count with more than 1.12 billion jabs, followed by the US with 320.69 million.

India has administered 300.05 million shots, Brazil 92.92 million, the UK 75.56 million, Germany 70.54 million, France 48.99 million, and Italy 48.32 million.

Turkey ranks ninth on the list with over 46.07 million doses given, followed by Mexico, Spain and Indonesia.

The country with the most doses administered by population is the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with 149.99 doses per 100 people.

Following the UAE, countries with the most doses administered per 100 people are Malta with 144.1 doses, Seychelles 140.3, San Marino 130.79, Israel 123.44, Bahrain 117.15, Chile 113.68, Iceland 112.04, the UK 111.31, Mongolia 111.19, Uruguay 106.06, and Qatar 102.06.

The number of doses administered in 12 countries, including the UAE, exceeded their population.

Most COVID-19 vaccines are administered in two doses, so the number of shots given is not the same as the number of individuals fully vaccinated.

Since December 2019, the pandemic has claimed over 3.9 million lives in 192 countries and regions, with more than 180 million cases reported worldwide, according to the US-based Johns Hopkins University.

The US, India and Brazil remain the worst-hit countries.
