ISTANBUL

Health authorities in Oman and Bahrain confirmed new infections from the novel coronavirus on Tuesday.

The Omani Health Ministry said 98 more people infected with the COVID-19 virus were registered, raising the total to 2,735, including 12 deaths and 858 recoveries.

Also, Bahrain's Health Ministry recorded 62 cases, pushing the total to 3,533.

The Gulf state has already reported eight deaths from the virus and 7,744 recoveries.

After originating in China last December, COVID-19 has spread to at least 187 countries and regions. Europe and the US are currently the worst-hit regions.

The pandemic has killed more than 251,830 worldwide, with total infections over 3.59 million, while almost 1.17 million patients have recovered, according to figures compiled by the US-based Johns Hopkins University.
