Olympic volleyball qualifiers: Belgium beat Croatia 3-1

ISTANBUL

Belgium’s national women volleyball team defeated Croatia 3-1 on Thursday to earn their first win in the European qualifiers for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. 

After their second games in the group, Germany topped the Pool B with two wins, followed by Turkey and Belgium with one win each and Croatia with two losses.

Turkey’s national women volleyball team will take on Belgium for their last group match in the European qualifiers on Friday. The winner of this match will advance to the semifinal.

Turkish national team are competing in the Pool B along with Germany, Croatia and Belgium.

The Netherlands, Bulgaria, Poland and Azerbaijan in the Pool A are also competing for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

The winner will secure a place in the 2020 Olympic Games scheduled to be held between July 24-Aug. 9.

Qualifiers started with the pool phase which will head to semifinals featuring the top two teams from each pool. The winner-takes-all final is set for Jan. 12.

Italy, Russia and Serbia already secured spots for the 2020 Olympics.
