Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim urged the international community to pressure Israel to halt its genocide in the Gaza Strip before he embarked on a three-nation trip to Europe and Latin America on Tuesday.
It came during a call Monday with British lawmaker Jeremy Corbyn.
Anwar and Corbyn discussed "collaborative measures among like-minded countries, including those within the Hague Group, to amplify international pressure on Israel to halt the ongoing genocide in Gaza immediately," according to the prime minister's X account.
They also reiterated their "shared commitment to upholding international law, defending human rights, and advocating for a just and lasting peace," said Anwar.
"In this time of deep humanitarian crisis, global solidarity and moral courage are more essential than ever," Anwar added.
Anwar began his three-nation trip Tuesday to Italy, France and Brazil. He will meet Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and French President Emmanuel Macron
The Malaysian prime minister will then fly to Latin America to attend the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio on the last leg of his trip.
The visit aims to enhance Malaysia’s diplomatic and trade relations.
