Ligue 1: Relegation of Amiens and Toulouse suspended
France’s highest administrative court also upholds decision to cancel remaining football season amid coronavirus pandemic
ISTANBUL
France’s highest administrative court on Tuesday upheld the decision to cancel the rest of the 2019-2020 football season amid the coronavirus pandemic, and suspended the relegation of Amiens and Toulouse to Ligue 2, a lower division.
The French Ligue 1 ended with 10 games remaining on April 30.
As a result, Paris Saint-Germain were crowned the season champions, while Amiens and Toulouse were relegated.
The clubs then challenged the decision in court.
While Amiens and Toulouse pleaded to have their relegation overturned, the cancellation of the league was contested by Olympique Lyon, which were on the 7th spot and could not qualify for the European competitions.
