ISTANBUL

A military plane with two people on board crashed in central Japan on Wednesday, Kyodo News reported.

The T-4 jet of Japan’s Self-Defense Forces crashed during a training course when it disappeared from radar after leaving Komaki Air Base in central Aichi province, said the country’s Defense Ministry.

According to the local fire department, the plane is said to have crashed into a lake in the city of Inuyama.

Oil was seen floating on the lake's surface soon after the crash.

The military is probing the cause of the crash, and the status of the personnel aboard the plane remains unknown.
