Jakarta urges end to Israel's atrocities after Indonesian Hospital chief killed in Gaza
Dr. Marwan al-Sultan, along with his wife and several of their children, was killed in Israeli airstrike on Wednesday

Indonesia on Thursday reiterated its call for an end to Israeli atrocities and an "immediate" ceasefire in Gaza as Jakarta mourns the death of the Indonesian Hospital chief in the war-torn enclave.
An Israeli air strike targeting an apartment in Gaza City killed Dr. Marwan al-Sultan, director of the Indonesian Hospital, along with his wife and several of their children on Wednesday.
"Indonesia mourns the passing of Dr. Marwan Al Sultan, Director of the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza, and his family on July 2, 2025, and condemns the Israeli attack," a statement from Jakarta's Foreign Ministry said.
"Indonesia appreciates his services, commitment and struggle for humanity and for peace in Palestine," it added.
Jakarta said it continues to closely monitor developments at the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza.
The medical community in Gaza on Thursday bid farewell to al-Sultan and his family.
Despite international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has pursued a genocidal war on Gaza, killing more than 57,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, since October 2023.
Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
