KAHRAMANMARAS, Türkiye

An Israeli rescue team pulled a woman alive from under the rubble of a collapsed building in Türkiye’s Kahramanmaras province Wednesday after two devastating earthquakes struck the southern part of the country earlier in the week.

Ozlem Bolat, 26, was rescued from under the rubble of a building in Onikisubat district and transferred to a hospital with wounds.

At the direction of Israeli authorities, Israeli rescue teams were dispatched to the quake-hit regions in southern Türkiye on Monday.

At least 9,057 people were killed and 52,979 injured after 7.7 and 7.6-magnitude earthquakes shook Pazarcık and Elbistan districts Monday in Kahramanmaras.

Nine other provinces have been affected by the deadly quakes including Malatya, Adiyaman, Hatay and Osmaniye.

The earthquakes affected more than 13 million people.

The Syrian government’s Health Ministry said at least 1,262 people were killed and 2,285 others injured in the provinces of Aleppo, Latakia, Hama and Tartus from the quakes.
