The Israeli army killed a Palestinian youth in the northern West Bank on Wednesday as illegal settlers burnt Palestinian properties in the occupied territory.

According to the official news agency Wafa, army forces raided the village of Jit in the northern West Bank and stormed several homes, including one where soldiers opened fire on a Palestinian and left him bleeding until he breathed his last.

The victim was identified as Jasem Al-Sedda, 20, whose body was seized by the Israeli army before being handed over to the Red Crescent medical teams.

The Israeli army carries out almost regular arrest campaigns across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians.

The army also demolished a Palestinian-owned house and a sheep farm near the southern city of Hebron for an alleged lack of a building permit, a local activist said.

Ratib al-Jabour told Anadolu that military bulldozers brought down the two structures in the area of Irfa'iya, east of Yatta town.

“The demolitions aim to pressure the Palestinian population to leave and for Israeli settlers to take control of the land,” he added.

Meanwhile, a group of illegal settlers sneaked into Rammun town, east of Ramallah city, and burned at least two Palestinian-owned vehicles, eyewitnesses said.

Settlers also spray-painted racist graffiti on the walls of one of the homes in the town, they added.

On Tuesday, illegal settlers assaulted several Palestinian areas in the West Bank, and burned seven vehicles and agricultural crops.

According to Palestinian figures, illegal settlers staged 341 attacks against Palestinians and their properties in the West Bank last month.

Since the start of the Israeli onslaught on the Gaza Strip on Oct. 7, 2023, at least 970 Palestinians have been killed and more than 7,000 injured in attacks by the Israeli army and illegal settlers across the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The International Court of Justice declared last July that Israel’s longstanding occupation of Palestinian territories is illegal, and called for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
