ISTANBUL
Germany’s annual inflation was at 1.6% in September, down from 1.9% in August, down from 1.9% in July, the federal statistical office Destatis revealed on Friday.
"The last time inflation was lower than in September 2024 was over three years ago, when it stood at +1.5% in February 2021," Destatis stated.
In particular, weaker energy prices slowed inflation more significantly in September 2024 than in the previous months.
Energy product prices fell by 7.6% year-on-year in September.
Meanwhile, price increases for services, which are still above average, pushed inflation up.
