Galatasaray women's volleyball team seeks to win CEV Volleyball Cup 2021, the club's board member Okan Boke said on Monday.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Boke said, "The target is always winning the cup for Galatasaray."

Galatasaray HDI Sigorta will take on Saugella Monza of Italy on March 16 in Monza for the first leg of the final, while the second leg will be played in Istanbul on March 23.

Boke said that the 'Lionesses' previously won European cups in football and basketball, adding that, "This is our third final in the European cups in the fourth year of our administration. While we were our way into the final in men's volleyball last year, CEV canceled the tournament due to the coronavirus outbreak. The only missing European cup in Galatasaray's museum is in volleyball and we are looking to win it."

Boke stated some players from the squad have tested positive for COVID-19.

"We have some troubles [caused by the novel coronavirus]. We will fight until the end. I have full faith in our team. The final will be played over the two legs. Our biggest chance is that the second leg will be played here [Istanbul]. For now, four of our players have tested positive for COVID-19 and one more player has symptoms. I hope all of the infected players will turn negative until the second leg. The first leg of the final will be difficult."
