Both Istanbul clubs looking for victory, Black-Eagles winless in Kadikoy for last 15 years

Fenerbahce, Besiktas set for derby showdown Sunday

ISTANBUL

Fenerbahce will host Besiktas in a vital Turkish Super Lig derby game on Sunday.

Both sides won their league matches last week as they are now waiting for the derby to cling to the championship race.

Besiktas last beat Fenerbahce at Ulker Stadium in 2005 with goals by Tumer Metin, John Carew, Ibrahim Akın and Koray Avci.

The 10-man Black Eagles defeated Fenerbahce 4-3 as Colombian goalkeeper Oscar Cordoba was shown a red card and the Romanian forward of Besiktas Daniel Pancu had to replace him.

Since April 2005, Fenerbahce got 11 wins and seven draws against Besiktas at home.

Fenerbahce's Harun Tekin, Nazim Sangare, Tolga Cigerci and Mbwana Samatta will miss the match due to injuries.

In addition to them, Enner Valencia and Sinan Gumus are not part of the squad after he tested positive for COVID-19.

For Besiktas, Ersin Destanoglu will not for his team due to his red card suspension, along with Ajdin Hasic, Domagoj Vida, and Jeremain Lens, who contracted coronavirus.

Also, Gokhan Tore will not play this match due his injury.

Fenerbahce are currently at second place with 20 points, while Besiktas in the seventh spot to collect 13 points.

The game will be played at 7.00 p.m. local time (1600GMT).


Matchday 10 action starts

The opening game of matchday 10 will be played at Ankara's Eryaman Stadium, with Ankaragucu facing Trabzonspor.

The match will kick off on Ankaragucu's home ground at 7.30 p.m. local time (1630GMT).

With two points, Ankaragucu are at bottom of the Super Lig table, Trabzonspor have nine points at 15th place in the league table.
