European stock exchanges closed lower on Wednesday, except in the UK.

The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European market in 17 countries, was down 0.88 point, or 0.17%, to finish at 514.13.

Germany's DAX 30 lost 64 points, or 0.35%, to close at 18,067 and Italy's FTSE MIB shed 95 points, or 0.29%, to end at 33,220.

France's CAC 40 was the worst performer of the day, trimming 58 points, or 0.77%, to finish the session at 7,570.

Spain's IBEX 35 decreased 11 points, or 0.1%, to end the day at 11,056.

The UK's FTSE 100, on the other hand, rose 13 points, or 0.17%, to close at 8,205.
