Elaine Thompson-Herah breaks Olympic record in women's 100 meters to win gold

ANKARA

Jamaican athlete Elaine Thompson-Herah won gold in the women’s 100 meters final at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, breaking an Olympic record in 10.61 seconds on Saturday.

Florence Griffith Joyner set the old record of 10.62 seconds at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

Jamaican athletes Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson won silver with 10.74 and bronze with 10.76, respectively.

Thompson-Herah won two gold medals in women's 100 meters and 200 meters, and a silver in women's 4×100 meters at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
