COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Eurasian countries

NUR SULTAN, Kazakhstan

Health officials in Eurasian and Central Asian countries reported new infections and fatalities Tuesday related to the new coronavirus.

Moldova

A total of 657 new cases and 17 deaths, brought the tally to 63,275 and 1,495, respectively. The number of recoveries stands at 45,102 with 374 patients beating the virus and more than 16,678 receiving medical treatment.

Moldova said the number of COVID-19 cases in the Gagauz Autonomous Region is 2,406.

It updated a list with the practice of dividing regions into green, yellow, orange and red zones continuing. Accordingly, all regions except Hincesti, Leova and Soroca were listed as red.

In regions in red, state of emergencies will be declared and measures against the epidemic will be tightened. The list is updated every two weeks.

Belarus

The Health Ministry said cases rose to 84,524 with 526 new additions in the past 24 hours. The death toll reached 906 as five more people died from the disease.

The tally of recoveries topped 77,797 as 374 people were discharged from hospitals.

Uzbekistan

With 108 new infections, Uzbekistan's tally rose to 61,642.

One more fatality raised the death toll to 511, while recoveries increased to 58,613 with the recovery of 186 patients, according to the Health Ministry.

It also said 95% of patients who contracted the virus have recovered.

The treatment of 2,518 patients continues in hospitals.

Tajikistan

Tajikistan reported 37 more cases of the coronavirus in the past 24 hours, raising the overall count to 10,297, including 79 deaths.

A total of 9,177 patients have recovered, while 1,105 remain under treatment.

Ukraine

The Kiev government decided to extend the ongoing quarantine until the end of the year.

Confirming another 5,133 cases, the total number of cases has reached 270,587.
