Coronavirus cases rise in Morocco, Lebanon

RABAT, Morocco / BEIRUT 

Health authorities in Morocco and Lebanon on Friday confirmed more cases of the novel coronavirus.

In Morocco, 124 fresh cases were registered, bringing the total to 3,692. The country’s health Ministry said a total of 155 people have died of the virus, while as many as 478 patients have recovered.

Lebanon's Health Ministry registered eight new cases in the country, pushing the tally to 696. The ministry says 22 people have so far lost their lives due to the coronavirus and while 140 have recovered. 

After originating in China last December, COVID-19 has spread to at least 185 countries and regions across the world.

The pandemic has killed more than 191,600 people, with total infections nearing 2.73 million, according to figures compiled by the US’ Johns Hopkins University. Over 748,800 people have recovered worldwide.
