'There were no passengers aboard,' says RCMP

Canadian national police on Tuesday reported that two pilots were killed in a mid-air collision involving small planes in southern Manitoba province.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said on X that the collision occurred at approximately at 1345GMT in the Rural Municipality of Hanover, just south of the city of Steinbach.
"On July 8, 2025, at 8:45 am, Steinbach RCMP were notified of a two-plane mid-air collision in the Rural Municipality of Hanover. The two pilots were pronounced deceased on scene. There were no passengers aboard," it said.
According to media reports, RCMP officers, fire crews, and emergency medical services immediately responded and located the wreckage of both aircraft.
No further information was released about the identity of the pilots or the possible cause of the collision.
