ISTANBUL
At least 18 people were injured on Tuesday in a Russian missile strike in the city of Dnipro in Ukraine’s southeastern Dnipropetrovsk region, the regional governor said.
Serhii Lysak said on Telegram that 12 of the injured people, including five children, have been hospitalized.
In earlier statements, Lysak reported that an educational institution was damaged during the attack.
“Fortunately, all the children were in the shelter at the time of the impact,” Lysak said.
In an evening address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that rescue operations are underway in Dnipro at a college and a kindergarten that were damaged in the Russian missile strike.
“All services are on the scene. I am grateful to everyone who is responding, who is arriving at the sites of the attacks to help people as soon as possible,” he added.
Russia's war on Ukraine, which broke out in February 2022, has claimed the lives of at least 10,500 civilians and injured more than 20,000 others, according to the latest UN figures.
