ISTANBUL

Several Arab countries confirmed new cases and fatalities Sunday from the novel coronavirus.

Iraq reported 28 more deaths and 1,268 infections, the Health Ministry said.

With the new figures, Iraq's death toll has risen to 346 and the case-count reached 12,366, while 5,186 patients recovered from the disease.

Health officials in the UAE said the tally of cases has risen to 38,808 and the fatalities reached 276, while 21,806 people have recovered.

In Bahrain, cases increased to 14,763 and recoveries to 2,640, according to the Health Ministry.

Qatar’s health authorities announced a total of 68,790 COVID-19 cases, 54 fatalities and 338 recoveries.

The death toll in Oman rose to 75 with three more fatalities in the past day, according to the Health Ministry. The tally of cases hit 16,882, while the total number of recoveries stands at 3,451.

Jordan's Health Ministry also announced that 13 people tested positive for COVID-19, raising the tally to 808. The country registered 606 recoveries from the virus.

The pandemic has killed over 400,000 worldwide, with nearly 7 million confirmed cases and almost 3.1 million recoveries, according to figures compiled by US-based Johns Hopkins University.
