ANKARA 

  • Countries like Türkiye are the ones shouldering the “real burden” of the global migration and refugee crises, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Monday. 
  • EU foreign ministers decided to renew sanctions against Russia over the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol.
  • NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen discussed NATO-EU cooperation Monday as well as their support to Ukraine.
  • Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Foreign Minister Yair Lapid agreed to submit a bill next week for the dissolution of parliament, and the latter will be appointed as prime minister, state media reported.
  • Türkiye said talks about Finland and Sweden's applications to join NATO will continue, and the upcoming NATO summit in Madrid is not an endpoint.
  • The Turkish president and UN secretary-general spoke over the phone and discussed initiatives aimed at resolving the ongoing crisis caused by the Russia-Ukraine war, Türkiye's Communications Directorate said in a statement.
  • The European Union's top diplomat said he will write to all African foreign ministers to explain the cause of the global food crisis and counter Russian “propaganda.”
