ISTANBUL

US tech giant Amazon announced Monday that it will invest up to $50 billion to expand AI and supercomputing capabilities for Amazon Web Services (AWS) for US government agencies.

"This investment, set to break ground in 2026, will add nearly 1.3 gigawatts of AI and supercomputing capacity across AWS Top Secret, AWS Secret, and AWS GovCloud (US) Regions by building data centers with advanced compute and networking technologies," Amazon said in a statement.

According to the statement, US federal agencies will have greater access to AWS's full range of AI services, such as Amazon SageMaker AI for model training and customization, Amazon Bedrock for model and agent deployment, Amazon Nova, Anthropic Claude, top open-weight foundation models, AWS Trainium AI chips, and Nvidia AI infrastructure, enabling agencies to create unique AI solutions, optimize large datasets, and boost workforce productivity.

It said that these new features will boost America's AI leadership and provide federal agencies with the safe, scalable infrastructure they require for the "upcoming era of innovation," and they will be accessible to current and prospective US government clients across AWS Top Secret, AWS Secret, and GovCloud (US) Regions.

The statement stated that the investment will enable government institutions to accelerate their discovery and decision-making processes.
