A total of five PKK/KCK terror suspects were arrested in Turkey’s western Izmir province on Wednesday.

Izmir prosecutors issued arrest warrants for the suspects accused of participating in the terror group’s activities, and spreading propaganda on social media.

The suspects, one of whom is of Syrian origin, were held following simultaneous operations in the province.

They were then referred to police headquarters for interrogation.

Separately, five of nine suspects earlier arrested for alleged links to the terror group were remanded in custody in Istanbul. The other four individuals were released on probation.

The suspects were arrested on June 30 in an operation against the urban organization of PKK/KCK. A CCTV footage showed suspects conducting an arson attack in the city's Esenyurt district.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women, children and infants.
