Four people, including a police officer, were killed in clashes between security forces and gunmen in southeastern Iran, local media said on Sunday.

According to Iran’s Azad news agency (ANA), armed militants from the Jaish al-Adl group attacked a police station in Sistan-Baluchestan province.

“Three terrorists were killed, and two others were detained,” Police Chief Mohammad Reza Eshaghi said in a statement.

The security official added that one police officer also lost his life in the attack.

Sistan-Baluchestan province, located in Iran’s southeast along the Pakistan border, has experienced various attacks by Jaish al-Adl, a militant group designated as a terrorist organization by the Iranian government. The group claims to defend the rights of the Baluch people in the region.
