The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced Tuesday that the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations has been rescheduled for January 2022 in response to the coronavirus threat.

The African football's governing body said that the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup games that were postponed due to coronavirus will resume in September with a final four format as the semifinals will be played in a single match.

The 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations will be held in Cameroon.

It added that Women’s Africa Cup of Nations were canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"Due to challenging conditions, the 2020 edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations has been canceled," the CAF said on its website.

"Meanwhile, the CAF Women’s Champions League will be launched in 2021. The format and other details will be communicated in due course," it added.
