2 Palestinians injured in Israeli army assault in northern West Bank
Israeli soldiers severely beat child, man in Misilyah village, according to medics
RAMALLAH, Palestine / ISTANBUL
Two Palestinians were injured Wednesday after being assaulted by Israeli forces during a raid in the northern West Bank, medics said.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said in a statement that a 14-year-old child and a 50-year-old man were severely beaten by Israeli soldiers in Misilyah village of Jenin.
They were transferred to the hospital, the statement said.
Israeli army forces raided the village on Wednesday morning and imposed a curfew in the area, according to the official news agency Wafa.
The latest raid came as the Israeli army expanded its offensive for the second day in the neighboring town of Qabatiya in the Jenin.
In recent days, the West Bank witnessed widespread Israeli escalation, including the closure of Palestinian villages and cities, searches, confiscation of valuables, and home demolitions.
More than 1,085 Palestinians have been killed and 10,700 others injured in attacks by the army and illegal Israeli settlers in the occupied territory since October 2023. Over 20,500 people have also been arrested.
In a landmark opinion in July last year, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory illegal and called for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
