2 killed in deadly rock fall in Canada's Banff National Park
3 others flown by air ambulance helicopter to hospital

TRENTON, Canada
A massive rock fall in one of Canada’s most popular tourist parks has claimed two lives and the search continued Friday for more possible victims.
Crews initially found one victim on Thursday when the rock fall occurred in Banff National Park in Alberta, as well as three people who were transported by air and ground ambulance. They are in stable condition.
The search resumed Friday at daybreak and another victim was recovered.
Parks Canada confirmed the tragedy on its Facebook page on Thursday.
“Parks Canada visitor safety teams will continue search and recovery operations … to confirm that no other hikers remain missing,” the Facebook post said. “Banff National Park remains open and safe to visit. The Icefields Parkway (Highway 93N) remains open with intermittent, short-term traffic stoppages in the vicinity of the incident.”
The area at Bow Glacier Falls where the incident occurred is closed.
It then updated on the tragedy Friday, saying: "At this time, there are no additional persons reported missing and no additional unidentified vehicles at the trailhead located at Bow Lake."
A witness told the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation that the rock fall was massive, that “it looked like a multi-storey building.”
Banff is considered one of the most picturesque parks in Canada and has in excess of 1,600 km (1,000 miles) of hiking trails.
