1 injured as 2 drones target Oman’s Salalah Port: Report

ISTANBUL

Two drones targeted Oman’s Salalah Port, injuring one expatriate worker and inflicting “limited damage” to one of the cranes at the facility, Oman News Agency reported on Saturday, citing a security source.

“The Sultanate of Oman affirms its condemnation of these heinous targeting acts, and taking all measures to ensure the security of the country and the safety of its residents,” it said.

In a statement, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters said it “targeted a US vessel at a distance from the Port of Salalah in Oman.”

Iran respects Oman’s national sovereignty, the statement noted.

Hostilities in the region have escalated since the US and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran on Feb. 28, killing more than 1,340 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Tehran has retaliated with waves of drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, inflicting casualties and infrastructure damage while disrupting global markets and aviation.
