Turkish police seize large amount of drugs

ANKARA 

Turkish police seized a large amount of drugs in nationwide operations last week, an official statement said Monday.

The operations were carried out in at least 50 provinces across Turkey.

Legal action was taken against 1,727 suspects.

In addition, police seized 281 kilograms of heroin, 271 kg of cannabis, over 5 kg of methamphetamine, and 400 kg of cocaine.

Some 12 guns, 2 kg of bonsai pills, 298,000 captagon pills, 188,000 synthetic drugs and 63,584 Turkish liras (near $9,000) were also seized.
