Tottenham Hotspur announced Wednesday that they will not play Rennes in a UEFA Conference League Group G match on Dec. 9. 

"We can confirm that our UEFA Europa Conference League Group G home fixture against Stade Rennais will not take place tomorrow after a number of positive COVID-19 cases at the Club," the London club tweeted.

The team also said the club has been advised by the UK Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) to close the first team area of its training center in the interest of the health and safety of players and staff.

Tottenham added that all other areas of the center will remain operational.

Rennes lead Group G with 11 points while Tottenham is second with 7 points in the UEFA Conference League.
