Ahmet Nur Cebi tests positive for COVID-19, treatment has begun, club says in statement
ANKARA
Ahmet Nur Cebi, the chairman of Turkish Super Lig club Besiktas, has contracted coronavirus, it was confirmed Thursday.
"The treatment process was started immediately in line with the relevant procedures in order to ensure the head's health as soon as possible," the club said in a statement.
Football leagues in Turkey, which were suspended in March due to the virus outbreak, are set to resume next month.
The paused top-tier Super Lig competitions will return on June 12.
As of Wednesday, the overall count of virus cases in Turkey reached 143,114.
A majority of patients -- 101,715 -- have recovered, while 3,952 have died so far, according to the official data.
