Yemen’s Houthis announced Saturday that they carried out a “second military operation” targeting southern Israel.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said the group launched cruise missiles and drones at “vital sites.”

He said the operation was carried out simultaneously with military operations by Iran and Hezbollah, and claimed it had achieved its objectives.

Saree said Houthi operations would continue in the coming days until “the aggression“​​​​​​​ stops.

Earlier Saturday, the group announced its first military operation against southern Israel since the outbreak of the current US-Israeli war against Iran.

The Houthis said they launched a ballistic missile at “sensitive military sites” in southern Israel.

Israeli media reported that air raid sirens sounded in Dimona, Beersheba and Eilat after the missile was detected, marking the first launch from Yemen since the current conflict erupted.

Hostilities in the region have escalated since Israel and the US launched joint attacks against Iran on Feb. 28, killing more than 1,340 people to date, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

⁠Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure, while also disrupting global markets and aviation.
