Qatar’s Defense Ministry said Monday that the country was targeted by drones launched from Iran, adding that the armed forces successfully intercepted all of them, according to the official Qatar News Agency (QNA).
The ministry said in a statement that Qatar was targeted by drones earlier Monday, adding that air defenses intercepted and neutralized all of them.
It added that the Qatari armed forces “successfully intercepted all the drones,” according to Qatar News Agency.
The region has been on alert since the US and Israel launched an air offensive on Iran on Feb. 28, killing more than 1,340 people so far, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and infrastructure damage while disrupting global markets and aviation.
